"To Waste Our Life" Retell

In my reading workshop L3, we have been working on "SKIMMING" & "SCANNING". We have been "SKIMMING" & "SCANNING" on an important article called: "To Waste Our Life".  First we had to answer the reflections questions, then, we had to retell a small Paragraph on "To Waste Our Life". Here is my RETELL, and, after that, click on the picture to take you to the LOOONG but GREAT persuasive text.

You might think online shopping is "BETTER" for our planet. You might think it doesn't waste petrol and tags, but, online shopping is WORSE. It gets tagged in plastic, wrapped in plastic, put in a plastic box and then gets sent off in a red plastic case. Your online clothes, ect, is also made in a big factory, then it travels in Vans, Trucks, cars, boats, planes and trains. Online shoppers, do you really need it? Or, do you really want it? Do you know where your packaging and plastic goes? Out to the sea. You might put it in the bin, but, it still gets dumped in the sea. Most Online Shopping happened in lockdown and still continued out to this present day. Its not just you that's Online Shopping, its everyone around the Globe. 18 million pieces of plastic gets wasted every year! Now, there are more pieces of plastic in our ocean, then stars in our galaxy. Over 6.1 K or billion get spent every year on unnecessary stuff/junk! Aria Hunt has recently posted an article on Kiwi kids news about this in further detail.

Minimize your shopping online!

Aurora gathering

On Wednesday night at 5mp I went to the Lawson Field Theatre to watch Klara,Alice and Ella preform in a Whirikoka play. We also went to see me, Rio and Kale'a's poems displayed on the wall and check out the digital video games that the Aurora digital kids had made. After a while we all got bored of waiting around and Kale'a had left before the play.

Me, Dad and Clem went out side and we saw Koka Ngaire waiting outside for Koka Rosie. Koka Ngaire said that Koka Rosie was lost. 5 minutes later Koka Rosie turned up and we went inside and took our seats. The lights dimmed and Alice, Klara, Ella and the other kids preformed.

At the end everyone clapped loudly and the man had to calm everyone down. All the other Aurora kids got invited onto the stage to get their citiffactates. When it was my turn, I got up to grab my citiffactate but I tripped on a piece of wood on the stage and stumbled. Then, I ended up on top of the plank of wood.

After the show and speeches, we went down to eat dinner. I had already had dinner and plus it was samwiches, sausage rolls, savaloyes, brownies, burger rings, juice, mini pies and many other snacks that you would probably have on a birthday.

MY GOALS

This week I have figured out all my goals and I am trying to get them all done so I can go to the next goals.  Once I have done all my goals I can mark them off on my check in so I can move up to a higher level in Reading, Writing, and Maths.

I have been so focused on my writing I am forgetting to come to my Maths workshops and do Maths Whizz, so I had to do it all this morning.

Me, Charlotte and Tallulah have been making a picture book about a Little Blue Penguin. Hopefully it will be released next Friday. Sadly, it's just me and Charlotte because Tallulah is moving to Newic in England. Our picture book is supposed to be short but we turned it into the worlds longest novel. It has at least 4-3 paragraphs on each topic so we a trying to shorten it down. It will probably be the first picture book I have ever completed.

Enviro action

 Enviro action day

Enviro actionday is the day when MLH do some mahī in the garden.

Last friday we went down to the beach and collected Kelp for our gardens. Then we hung it up on the fence to dry for 1 week and a ½.

All day one ⅛ th of the kids in MLH (including me) Ran back and forth carrying buckets and wheelbarrows of seaweed to spread on the gardens. So koka Rosie left us in charge of the gardens for Wednesday, but I was sick so they crossed out my name.

On wednesday, I was surprised to see that my name had been crossed out. So I had to go down and compete in the rubbish competition (I thought I would come last).

We each got a bucket and walked down the beach looking for rubbish. We got heaps! And it turned out that there was a prize for the most amount of rubbish. My group  got 49 cigarette butts and 17 pieces of metal. Our total of rubbish was 337! And we won! Me, Ivy and Josie won a japanese lollipop that was like little sushi’s but there was one sashimi.

Josie got the sashimi and me and Ivy got sushi lollipop.
