 Kapa haka 

On the 18th of november, our school went on 4 buses to get to the showgrounds where we were performing. We had sung all our kapa haka songs and others. When we got there we formed into our lines and practiced our songs. We were the first school on stage. Wainui was the only school who performed with the poi. The boys haka was so fast I could not keep up with the words to be said!

When we were settled neatly in front of the stage, montessori preschool assembled onto it. Some of the kids went crazy but the teachers would not dare chase them. Then Manatuke went on and they were good but they were a whole school! Thats was strange, there must be more people in moana syndicate than in that whole school! Wai syndicate went on and performed a few songs including our school pepeha. After that, Nui and us all performed together and our principal cried.

 When we were on stage all the teenagers called us cute so I scowled. When everyone had finished we all gathered on de stage  for prizes we won best Stylish award. Clem won a prize for awnering a silly question.  Our Clothes were a big hit!(not us sad) When we came out from our room all of the teens were like "look at those cute little girls all dressed up. EEEEK"

Reading

This week we have been doing our quick-write on reading.   I love reading it is one of my favourite things to do but when I read the facts it said:20% of english children can't read at the age 11! I could read since I was 3!

Books are full of exiting adventures! The one I am reading at the moment is called Curse of the Dream Witch.          I have also enjoyed Sinking, demon dentist & Geronimo.

I have had a fun week, and it is getting very exciting. I have a lot to tell you so I’m going to explain slowly…

October-to-November

In October my family are going to Auckland to see  Benee, a famous singer perform.

She is my favourite singer, because her chords, voice and songs are awesome.  For WBS has got talent I’m doing a video of me and my friend playing Glitter, one of my favourite Benee songs. :) I am going with my cousins in Auckland. Then, in November they are coming to stay with us!

Math Whizz

 In our class we have this thing called priorities which we check off,  one of our priorities is Ninja maths but my teacher has found a new maths program called Math Whizz. It is like a video game but you have to do maths to get your avatar and a tree house or space department. It comes with ect but I’m not going into detail.

Everyone loves Birthdays

It will be my Birthday in 8 days! I’m turning 10! I’m going to have a birthday party with my family. Because my birthday party is basically in October( you know the Benee concert :)

My blog

My reading group has been learning about robots.  The past weeks we have been learning different parts of robots and how the brain controls different parts of its mechanical robot body.   

I have a feeling we are going to make a robot because before we stared studying robots were were    

studying rockets and then we made a balloon rocket. There are lots of books on robots and there is evan a competition for the best robot but I don't think our group will enter. Because then I'll be in three competitions Cross country, Marakai and robot challenge! Wow :/ 

One of the robots we saw in the book was made of lego-like blocks and, it came with a remote.  The robot in the book looked alot like a digger with a mechanical claw on the end and, a little cockpit where the batteries sit. It even had wheels like a digger.

I hope we make one But, I'm not sure if we'll make a robot, fingers crossed!

Reading

For the past few weeks I have been learning about rockets.

We have watched videos, we have written about them and we have shared info of what we know about rockets. I have sheard a lot about rockets, here is some information of what I already know about rockets:

Today we made bouncy bubbles!!!!!!!!

It was very fun and our mixture was like pink cotton candy and Blue cotton candy. Anyway here is a link to our bouncy bubbles.

Friday

Today I finished my card for Flynn and my Zentangle art! In one block!! Now I will have to do our shared book stuff. But I haven't read the Chapters and I don’t want to but I’ll have To.

It is friday the 19TH Today 

On saturday I will be going to IVY'S BIRTHDAY SLEEPOVER!!

QALLITY BLOG POST

This week

I have had a great week. 

Me and My class have been doing art, reading and maths.

On wednesday koka Jo and koka Holly took our class.

Me,Lola, Charlotte, Ella and Esther (our buzz group),
Had to make a giant bubble with homemade mixture. Our whole class had too. 
My buzz group decided what bubbles we should make.
In the end we decided to make bouncy bubbles.

Esther and Ella searched for a recipe so the teacher could buy the ingredients.
And me Charlotte and Lola went around the school thinking about what would be in our homemade
Bubble wands. In the end we had made our list.

• Pipe cleaners
• Paper straws
• Milk bottle cap
• Screw driver
• Scissors  

After our bubble research we did bubble art.

MLH 2 and MLH 3 crowded around Koka Holly to see how to do the art.

Koka Holly had 5 bits of Black paper that she had stuck together.

She used the white pastel to draw bubbles and used other colors to make a rainbow bubble.

Every week we have 2 reading groups and 2 maths groups. I am in Kea reading group 

EL3M KT Witch means early level 3 Maths with koka Terri.

We are learning about our Questions,predicting, monitoring, visualizing, connecting,inferring and summarizing.

We are also doing zentangle art. Here are some photos.

I’m  not finished though.

Lockdown learning

In the lockdown we did a lot of activities. We did a dress up theme, and art.(lots of art fun!!)

We had google meets too. So good to see friends.

Dress up theme

Every week on Friday we would dress up.

We would dress up in a character from our topic this week.

Most of the time I couldn't dress up because I don’t have any dress ups.

Animal activities

Nearly every week we would write about a animal for example: 

• African big four
• Reptiles
• Big cats   
• Sharks

So we would pick a topic to write about. I chose a reptile, green sea turtle.

Art

We did a lot of art too. Like soldier art or our book pictures.

We did poppy art and little diorama. I also did a lot of art at home too, you know.

Activities

I did at least 5 outside activities for school. Including 3 pixy houses one fishing in creek project and I went snorkeling at the lighthouse. If you click on the word Pixy house it will take you to photos of my pixy house.

In my spare time

In my spare time I went to the lighthouse, Got muddy in the creek, Drew, climbed trees and went for walks. 

I went to the lighthouse in the middle of the lockdown, The waves were calm and we took a lot of photos. We found PRETTY shells and purple crabs. I asked dad if we could go snorkeling tomorrow and he said yes. Here is a link of My lighthouse trip.

The first weeks of school

At the end of term, Moana learning Hub is going for a walk to the lighthouse.Because it is at the bottom of our Monga. We are going at the end of the term because the tides are to high.I can't wait. 

Buzz groups

Me, Ella, Charlotte A,Ester,lola and Ivy are all in a buzz group together. We do a lot of things together like balloon racing and picking up plastic cups with one rubber band and some string. Naming ten movie characters.

Balloon racing

Balloon racing is were our buzz groups line up in a line. Then we put balloons under our knees and run to the otherside. If you drop the balloon you have to go back to the start if you pop the balloon you're out. (Ella popped the balloon.) 

String games
Me, Ella, Charlotte A,Ester,lola and Ivy all sit in a circle 
Lola went and grabbed a rubber band with six pieces of string tied to it.We each got a piece of string in pulled making the rubber band stretch. There were 6 cups in the middle of us and when we pulled the rubber band rapped around the plastic cup.Our jobs was to stack the cups up.

Naming ten movie characters

Naming ten movie characters, for example we named 10 characters from The Wizard of Oz,Frozen and Sesame Street.Normally we get five ,six, seven, eight or nine characters from a movie.

Normally our quick writes are vs, for example chocolate first cheese which one would you choose?
Cats vs dogs,Aliens vs Robots,swimming first soccer,Ice Age vs Jurassic,pizza vs sushi,invisibility vs flying,unicorns vs dragons and sensors that I don't know about yet because I was away.Which of these long vs when you choose?
